DTB and Wingfield extend partnership

By introducing Wingfield's AI-based match validation in 2021, the German Tennis Federation enables players to play official matches outside of official team competitions or tournaments. Since then, Wingfield has ensured that matches played with its technology have taken place according to the existing DTB regulations and under fair conditions and automatically submits results to the DTB ranking system. The German Tennis Federation is a global pioneer and the only association so far to use artificial intelligence to ensure the integrity of its national rating system.

Simon Papendorf, Managing Director at the DTB, says: “We want to continue to drive digitalization at the DTB and merge services on our digital platforms to lower the barriers to participation in official competitions. Wingfield is a crucial element of this.“

Over 5,000 players with access to one of the more than 400 Wingfield systems installed in Germany already use the on-demand match validation service. As part of the partnership, further measures will now be taken to develop this service further and make it accessible to more players.

Maik Burlage, Managing Director of Wingfield, adds: “The last two years have shown that there is a demand for flexible alternatives to the existing competition formats. This encourages us to continue investing in this area and to expand the existing offering in the future.“

In the coming weeks, Wingfield and the German Tennis Federation will announce the next major expansion of their joint LK service.
